Poltu Quatu, which in the Gallurian dialect means “hidden port”, is a village that is part of the municipality of Arzachena. It still has the features of an old fishing village with circular slender square, narrow streets with original castled houses.
It was founded in 1987 and thanks to its strategic position always had the aim to be an ideal landmark for sailors.
Marina dell’Orso of Poltu Quatu was a fjord, characterized by being a cove sheltered from strong winds and strong sea currents.
It is therefore ideal for those who want to have a sailing trip in the “archipelago of La Maddalena”.
The creation of the tourist port, submitted to substantial overbuilding and the realization of some facilities, has led, however, to disfigure this natural fjord.
The port, with its 500 docking places, is popular during the summer season and has undergone a significant restructuring, through which Poltu Quatu has been able to stand out, in 2010, and win the Blue Flag for marinas.
It is a prestigious award assigned on set parameters and criteria as the quality of docking, the services and security measures, environmental education and information provided to users.
Poltu Quatu owes its fame to the port and the big tourist resorts close to it but also for the presence of several nightclubs.
From Poltu Quatu you can admire the beautiful island of Caprera, including the National Park Archipelago of La Maddalena.
