Carnival 2019 at Arzachena

Costume parades, local food tasting, music and animation:
here are all the ingredients of the Carnival starting at Arzachena in February 28th.

Carnevale arzachenese 2019

According to tradition, the first appointment is “fai e laldu” (in local dialect), a tasting of a typical winter dish with fava beans, pork meat and lard which is cooked on Carnival Thursday in piazza Risorgimento at 12:30. Music, dances and games for children together with the cartoon mascots and “frittelle” (typical local pancakes) will cheer up the old town centre until night.

But the outstanding event is always the parade of floats and groups in costume.

The groups in costume can now show their amazing papier mache they have realized during winter. Sunday, March 3rd from 2.30 p.m., this event will involve people along the streets of Arzachena up to the park XVIII Novembre (Tanca di Lu Palu) where a costume party with a dj set will take place.

Tuesday, March 5th at 2:30 p.m. the parade starts again.

Sunday, March 10th The grand finale of the Carnival 2019 takes place as usual at Cannigione village where the third costume parade is held which ends with the proclamation of the best parade float and folk music.

Here is the whole programme together with the route maps and instructions of Arzachena and Cannigione for the safe.
