Arzachena Turismo

Arzachena’s archaelogical park with its 8 enchanting sites

Retracing 6.000 years of history is an endless adventure and it is undoubtedly worth making a trip here among its 8 thousand-year-old archaeological sites.

Archaelogists from the Archaeological Asset of Sassari go on working, digging and studying each stone, each artifact coming from the underground of the archaeological park. Thanks to the megalithic circle of Li Muri (discovered  in 1939), and the Mushroom Rock , called in local dialect Monti Incappiddhatu (V millennium B.C., from the 4.200), we know the first civilization of Arzachena which dates back to the Neolithic Age, when a real “Culture of Arzachena” was founded.

From that time up to the Bronze Age, when the first Nuraghi and Giants’Tombs were built (II millennium B.C., years 1.800-1.400), there is a period of time of about 2.500 years and it will be our official guides’ task to fill in this time gap with all the stories and evidences gathered up to now.

At that time the local economy consisted in farming and sheep rearing, but important details show those people’s bent for trade and navigation.

We certainly know there is still a lot to discover about Arzachena’ s story, many myths to dispel and  some ones to look into.

The tour among the 8 sites of Arzachena is a constant discovery and you can be part of it.

From the trips across the Mediterranean Sea looking for raw materials to the Gods worshipped at the Templet of Malchittu, from the nuragic Village of La Prisgiona and its 100 huts (80 of which not brought to light yet) to the Giants’ Tombs where, according to the popular belief, giants’ bodies were buried. Later it was found out they were common graves of the village nearby.

To book your visit, please, apply to the Ticket Office located at Malchittu (just at the entrance of Arzachena, direction Olbia). You can plan a whole day of excursions or a weekend to enjoy your time travel thanks to the Archaeological Park of Arzachena.
